I picked my first Hardy Chicago fig today; it's the smaller fruit on the right (Violette de Bordeaux on the left). I started the plant over the winter from a cutting.
Here they are cut open (3 pieces on left are VdB, 3 on the right are HC):
They were both delicious. Both varieties are keepers.
Pioneering in aquaponics and high tunnel growing; specializing in bananas, rare figs, and pure blue tilapia.

Another bunch of bananas is ripening
I noticed a few days ago that another bunch was starting to turn yellow. I've eaten about 6 so far, just breaking off individual yellow fingers whenever I'm hungry for fresh bananas. Here are some pics that I took today:

Fresh Figs
Picked some fresh figs today, a purple Bordeaux-type (DesertDance's Violette de Bordeaux) and two Conadria. The Conadria fruits were under-ripe yet already spoiled (the fruits don't seem to do well in my excessively humid/wet aquaponics tunnel), but the Bordeaux fig was delicious.

Tasty Dwarf Orinoco Banana Harvest
Here's my first Dwarf Orinoco bunch of the season. With this variety, the fruit doesn't get ripe until the skin has a lot of black on it, so they're not quite ripe in that bottom picture. But that pic was from yesterday, and today they seemed about ripe, so...
nom nom nom...Mmm...nom nom nom
They're pretty good! They taste a lot like a grocery store banana, but with a hint of strawberry :)
